New robot
November 12th, 2009

Its here! Finally after 5 years of blabbing about it the robot tattoo is underway. Getting done by Chad down at Sanitary Electric Tattoo. Love the design… asked for a retro / steam-punk type robot and that’s what i got! Outline and shading done… next session’s the color.

Fractals & Quotes
September 21st, 2009

Went to the Pecha Kucha presentations the other night and had a great time. My friends who do Rollout custom wallpaper nailed their presentation. Another presentation that stood out was Sergio Toporek twist on spiritual / scientific directed art. Not some much into the spiritual stuff but quite the interesting perspectives in the flows and fractals of physics driven art.

It also could have been he worked in one of my favorite quotes (laws) by Arthur C. Clarke “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.” Good talk and strange ideas! Heres another great quote (from Star Diaries) by my top author to read;

“The whole plan hinged upon the natural curiosity of potatoes.” – Lem.

As most plans always have in the past!

Camping 09!
July 8th, 2009

Just got back from a rainy camping trip to Mount Robson. Didn’t see the sun at all… but it was still ok… lots of huddling around campfires and beer. Plus one hike. Here’s some flickr action; http://www.flickr.com/photos/rand_w/

Aside from the weather the place was a really good camping spot…

Sweet, sweet vintage!
November 20th, 2008

Had some good book scores as of late. check out these two vintage covers; Lem’s  Memoirs of a space traveler and Starburst. Lem’s is pour eighties goodness and about as bizarre as the stories within. Starburst is even older… got to love the retro rockets…

the biggest find however was Fiasco another rare Lem. Been looking for it a while know… some small book shop had a copy for $3. Ha think the guy didn’t really know what he had.

Sweet cyberpunk
November 18th, 2008

Can’t wait for this show to come westward…
Sleep Dealers looks to be a fine merger of a future world and Haldemans Forever Peace (with out the full military thing happening). Much better than that crappy looking The Day The Earth Stood Still remake. Blah horrible.

And to top things off feast upon
Dr. Grordbort’s assorted steampunk rayguns
. There’s a pistol for all occasions.

Button Show with Binary Solo
May 20th, 2008

Hey looks like I’l be apart of the amazing
Hot One Inch Button show this year. Hooray! Going to be great time… you can never go wrong with killbots & binary.

And of course how could i not love Flight Of The Conchords after a song like this! Binary solo? Damn brillant. Hard to choose between live and the functioning robots so i’ll just link both;

Cuban Artists
April 29th, 2008

Went to Nacional De Bellas Artes when I was in Havana. Very nice Gallery with a lot of good stuff to see. Here’s 2 artists that I could remember. Really liked their stuff.

Alfredo Sosabravo was more modern and had some nice details… like the stitching feel.

Liked Angel Acosta León stuff as well however had a hard time finding his art online… what they had at the Gallery was better i though. Like the bicycle!
