Working on some new business cards… been a long while since i’ve updated the stamps. i figure 1 for the and 2 for some rayguns. maybe one for a saucer. need to drum up some new business.
Just saw Inception the other day. was impressed! good idea didn’t go too over in the tech talk however explained things pretty thoroughly. Much better than The Matrix as far as idea. Ending was well done and open to interpretation just how i like it!
Writing up a storm or trying to I’m working on a few ideas for a new character I’m like it to be a cross between tichy ijon but more a little more dangerous like a Kovacs… more like tichy since i like to write witty… or i think i like to write witty. right now its all about a crazy AI’s, and space/time multiple personality disorder. will see how it will work out.

Photos from Sled Island 2010! Most are a tribute to the quick, dirty and blur but oh well. If I ever go back to Sled Island i think i’ll do a lot more research… some of the band parings we’re pretty bad in my opinion so needed to know who sounded like what.
Why did Why have a 30 minute sound check? who the fuck knows and why would anyone care… their band name seems appropriate. the mants although short were great! also like the unnatural helpers and cave (reminded me a little of the high dials).
Camping this year proved the driest ever… only a little rain the first day! we were technically in a cabin but who’s that technical? it was a fun time all around.

Well the day has come where i missed the chance to buy one more Lem novel to add to the collection. It was there staring me in the face an i thought ‘I think I already have that one… I’ll make sure before i buy’.
And no i did not have it and it was a rare hard covered first edition of More Tales of Pirx the Pilot. Great 80′s style cover art, and pretty hard to find in the used book circuits. Might have to go to Amazon and hope they’re still in newer print around. Always go with my gut!
Getting close to having them all i think… only 3 left and one I’m not positive made to English translation. Almost there!

Disappointed to hear Ape City isn’t going to be playing in the Earthquake Shake in victoria anymore. the whole things been scaled down unfortunately. still will be a good show. will need to get back on the camera again… haven’t been taking it anywhere these days!

Just watched the movie surrogates the other day and while I was not expecting much but i have to say it was the worse sci-fi movie i’ve seen in a while. Not cause of the same old crappy sci-fi stuff they spewed out but the disappointing lack and use of a really good idea.
the whole plugging in to a robotic (or other means) body to represent the ‘you’ in society has been done in few books very well. two, which are my favorite, are Kiln People and Peace on Earth (a tichy adventure written by Lem, very good!). Peace on Earth even used robotic bodies similar to the movie.
But of course none of the good thing’s these books wrote about are in the movie at all. I was hoping to see at least a little structure on how this tech would impact society and culture. but basically all i saw was that everyone in the world just wants to look like ken and barbie. what the hell? even the ‘punks’ portrayed (only once) looked like stereotypical crap. i’ve been to show’s where punks are more elaborately dressed up without having a robot skull you could weld things too.
where was the antmen, the lizard men, the tentacle people with elephant heads? at least have a poke at the world of war craft crowd. there’s no way in hell you wouldn’t see some guy walking down the street decked out as an orc.
not that i was expecting that at all when i rented ($3.00 i’ll never get back) it. don’t even want to go into the ending that made no sense what so ever!
